Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) and Agriculturist’s Association of Bangladesh (AAB) are conducting a program of free distribution of various vegetable seedlings and oilseeds and chemical fertilizers among the affected farmers for post-flood agricultural rehabilitation in Sherpur district.
As part of, on Saturday at Nalitabari upazila in the district, the field research department of BARI Sherpur-1 region developed Bari Sarisha-14, Bari Shim-1, Bari Lau-4 seedlings and on Sunday at Jhenigati, the initiative of AAB central committee distributed mustard seeds and fertilizers. These were distributed among 150 farmers of Nalitabari upazila and 200 farmers of Jhenaigati upazila of the district.
Senior Scientific Officer of Sherpur-1 Region of BARI Agriculturists Titu Fakir, Deputy Director (TC) of BADC Nakla Himagar Agriculturists Md. Shahidul Islam along with Agriculturists of BARI and AAB, many others affected farmers and local dignitaries were present.
Other hand, under the Rabi 2024-25 season agricultural incentive program, free Mustard, Wheat, Maize, Groundnut, winter Onion, Mung bean and Lentil seeds and chemical fertilizers were distributed among the farmers of Sherpur Sadar Upazila on Sunday afternoon. Upazila Administration and Upazila Agriculture Office jointly organized the distribution program.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Abdullah Al Mahmud Bhuiya, Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturists Muslima Khanam Nilu, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Palash Kanti Dutta, Sub Assistant Plant Protection Officer Hazrat Ali and many more farmers from different areas and journalists of different media were present.
